Eve
Ensler is a very funny person who comes down to life talking about the woman’s
vagina. She uses humor and straight talk in discussing the vagina in the film entitled:
“The Vagina Monologues.”
While
watching the vagina monologues at first I laughed then I cried. I laughed because Eve Ensler was very funny
in the opening talking about the vagina. The part when she was talking about
thongs and how they ride up in the vagina made me laugh loud. The funniest
part, however, was when she was talking about the names that women use to
describe the vagina. Names like: Pussycat, pookie, twat, powder box, cootchie,
and peach. Ironically peach is the name I used to describe vagina.
But then all of the sudden I was saddened. I was saddened
by the story about the six women on the cover of Newsweek that were rescued
from a “Rape Camp”. The way they were brutally raped by soldiers daily made me
cry. I mean I literally had tears in my eyes. Then I was saddened even more
with the story entitled: “The Little Cootchie that could”. The way she was
abused from behind while trying on her new white cotton panties and bra that
she got for her tenth birthday. Her father’s friend came behind her, pulled her
panties down, and forced his hard penis in her young virgin vagina. She
screamed in agony as she was being raped. This made me sick to my stomach.
Then I laughed again about what would your vagina wear.
In example: Silk skirt, red bow, hiking
boots and sun block, leather jacket, spiked leather pants, and mine is a
nudist. If I was a female and had a vagina it would wear a leather jacket and
cherry perfume. This would be a balance between my feminine and masculine
qualities.
Lastly
I laughed about what would your vagina say if it could talk. Words like: slow
down, use me, eat me, open for business, accept gifts, I am happy, and I am
here. Then again if I was a woman and had a vagina mine would say, “I am Nude!”
I would shave it, keep it clean, and have freedom to express myself during sex.
I would be dominant and in control.
In conclusion – This movie made me cry and laugh a lot.
It was funny, but at the same time sad. It helped me to understand how women
feel about themselves and what they go through with sexual abuse and in their
daily lives. It was a good monologue. I enjoyed it.
